Michel Foucault en la investigación turística
problematizar prácticas y experiencias

El objetivo de este artículo es comprender la perspectiva postestructuralista inspirada en Foucault en la investigación turística. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo-cuantitativo exploratorio-descriptivo. El método de recogida de datos utilizado fue la bibliometría, realizada en las bases de datos Scopus, Web of Science y Science Direct, mediante la búsqueda de los términos "Foucault" y "Foucauldian" combinados con el término "Tourism" en títulos, resúmenes y palabras clave de artículos completos. Los resultados fueron 99 artículos publicados entre 1999 y 2023. De ellos, se identificaron 158 autores. Las palabras clave más utilizadas en los artículos fueron Foucault, Tourism y Discourse. Para profundizar en los temas, se seleccionaron artículos publicados entre 2020 y 2023, con un total de 35 trabajos. En estos artículos, el turismo se discute utilizando los conceptos foucaultianos de discurso, heterotopía, relaciones de poder, biopoder/biopolítica, gubernamentalidad y ética, destacando temas emergentes en el campo del turismo que materializan las preocupaciones y discusiones posmodernas, incluyendo: la mirada del turista; la economía colaborativa; el turismo oscuro; la turismofobia; las condiciones de trabajo en el turismo y la hostelería; el turismo y los pueblos indígenas; las relaciones entre el ocio y el uso de teléfonos inteligentes; y las relaciones de género en el turismo.
