Resumo

Este estudo discute como acadêmicos de países em desenvolvimento, como os países da América Latina, podem contribuir para a pesquisa em hospitalidade e turismo (H&T) em âmbito global. O estudo fornece recomendações específicas para melhorar as jornadas de publicação e a contribuição para o campo de H&T. Ao fazer isso, ele elucida os conceitos de pesquisa e de jornada de publicação, explica diferentes tipos de contribuição de pesquisa, explora desafios enfrentados por acadêmicos e oferece recomendações.

Biografia do Autor

Fevzi Okumus, Universidade Central da Flórida (UCF), Orlando, USA.

O professor Fevzi Okumus ocupa a cadeira de Professor Titular Proeminente CFHLA no Departamento de Serviços de Hospitalidade (Hospitality Services Department) do Rosen College of Hospitality Management da University of Central Florida. Sua pesquisa se concentra em implementação de estratégia, gestão de mudanças, vantagem competitiva, gestão do conhecimento, gestão de crises, gestão intercultural, marketing de destinos, tecnologia da informação e países em desenvolvimento. Ele tem mais de 250 publicações acadêmicas, sendo mais de 120 artigos em periódicos científicos e três livros. Ele é editor-chefe do International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (IJCHM), além de atuar no conselho editorial de 24 periódicos internacionais e de frequentemente ser um palestrante em conferências internacionais.

Babak Taheri é professor no Departamento de Hospitalidade, Gestão Hoteleira e Turismo (Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism) da Texas A&M University. Ele tem uma reputação estabelecida na área de marketing com uma expertise específica em gestão de marketing, pesquisa do consumidor, hospitalidade, turismo, lazer e consumo cultural. A natureza inovadora de sua pesquisa remonta ao trabalho multidisciplinar e à mensuração e avaliação metodologicamente robusta de conceitos-chave. Nos anos recentes, ele tem mais de 150 publicações acadêmicas, incluindo um número significativo em periódicos internacionais de primeira linha com alto fator de impacto. Ele é editor associado de dois periódicos: The Service Industries Journal e International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.
