Sustainability has become a permanent global priority in a competitive and dynamic market, requiring companies and governments to rethink their economic, social, environmental, territorial, and governance strategies. In the field of wine tourism, studies that assess sustainability in an objective and multidimensional manner are still in their infancy. The overall objective of this article is to propose an assessment matrix as a theoretical-practical tool to measure the sustainability of wine tourism at wineries. Based on an integrative literature review supported by the PRISMA protocol, it was possible to construct the Sustainability Assessment Matrix for Wine Tourism (SAMWT), which brings together 72 indicators across five dimensions of sustainability in wine tourism: economic, social, environmental, territorial, and institutional governance. The matrix offers a self-assessment of sustainable practices in wine tourism, allowing for the evaluation of wineries’ performance toward sustainability. The application of this organizational checklist can encourage managers to design more sustainable, competitive, and inclusive wine tourism experiences and models.
