This study examines the intersection between regenerative tourism and Madeira wine heritage, focusing on the strategic potential of securing UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity recognition for Madeira wine traditions. Framed within the concepts of sustainable and regenerative tourism, the research addresses a critical gap in the literature on heritage-led regeneration strategies in island destinations. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview survey (recorded) involving all Madeira wine producing organizations and analyzed through content analysis supported by descriptive statistics. The applied script included questions related to Madeira wine traditions and the UN sustainable development goals, as well as those specific to the Representative List, and varying according to the profile of the interlocutor. The findings reveal a strong consensus on the potential of UNESCO recognition to strengthen Madeira wine cultural heritage.
